We are the professionals who keep the college running every day: the staff in admissions, financial aid, facilities, instructional support, technology, campus safety, and student services who make student success possible.
Classified Professionals of CSEA Chapter 477 is an independent group of union members. We are classified employees of Río Hondo College and members of CSEA Chapter 477 who have come together, on our own initiative, to promote our chapter and advocate for the classified professionals who serve Río Hondo students.
Our chapter belongs to the California School Employees Association, the largest classified school employees' union in the United States, representing more than 250,000 school support professionals throughout California. This page is where we share what we advocate for, the positions our chapter has taken, and how our community can support public education in the Río Hondo Community College District.
Our advocacy is grounded in one idea: the people closest to students know what students need. We work toward a district where classified professionals are respected, resources reach the classroom, and every public dollar can stand up to scrutiny.

On September 15, 2026, CSEA Chapter 477 announced its endorsements for the Río Hondo Community College District Board of Trustees in the November 3, 2026 election. As members of the chapter, we proudly stand behind these endorsements — candidates with a demonstrated commitment to transparency, fair contracting, accountable governance, and respect for the classified professionals who serve students every day.

A trustee since 2021, Anais Medina Diaz treats board service as stewardship of public funds and public trust, and champions expanding student access to housing, food, technology, and child care — work in which classified professionals are central.
